Alicante Gin
This gin was produced as a single, exploratory run, our first time working with Alicante Bouschet in a spirit. The grape is unusual for its naturally dark flesh, and anyone who has handled it knows how decisively it leaves its mark. That intensity prompted a deliberate decision to see how its colour and flavour might translate into gin.
Built on a classic juniper foundation, the spirit shows lifted rose on the nose, followed by bright citrus and a distinct raspberry character, reminiscent of raspberry bullets — with a restrained note of licorice. The grape’s contribution is clear but controlled, sitting cleanly within the gin’s structure.
On the palate, the profile is fresh and precise. Rose and citrus lead, red fruit follows, and juniper holds everything in balance. The finish is on the sweeter side and persistent, with soft raspberry and licorice lingering.
A one-off release, made to understand the potential of Alicante Bouschet in gin, and to see where the grape could take us.
